I can assure you that this has nothing to do with the popularized sensation of a show…
With that being said. Walking in accordance with God’s will can be a bit foggy at times. I never knew God the way I know Him now. My coming back to God and building a relationship with Him started with me picking up the bible and reading it in it’s entirety. It was then that it really sunk in that it was His word…HHHHiiiiissss wwooooorrdd (but I’m sure you’ve already had that revelation, okay carrying on). While I was going through my storm God was comforting, educating and grooming me through His word that was established long before I was conceived.
The deeper I went into my spirituality the more the Lord would speak to me in new ways. After all His word tells us that when we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us (James 4:8). There are no gimmicks in God.
God connected me with some very gifted people throughout the course of my journey (and some before I realized my journey began). With those connections just like anything that God does, I was tested. Although I was surrounded by people that not only could prophetically speak my life story in one sitting but were able to deliver/interpret a message to me from the Lord.
But here’s the thing…
It’s great to have a pastor, elder, bishop, evangelist, prophets etc. in your life but don’t allow it to get you into lazy faith. Lazy faith is rather dangerous. It’s when you start taking everyone else’s word as the final word that God has for you, based on a certain level of trust you have for them. No disrespect to any of the leaders in my life (or past), then again if they do take offense they are not in line with the word of God. In 1 John 4:1 His word tells us to try the spirits whether they are of God. Some leaders want the best for you and other’s not so much. However In order to differentiate you would have to dig deep and know The Voice for yourself. Truth be told any spiritual leader or brethren should be encouraging you to do the same.
Sadly every time I went against what was spoken to me (in accordance to what God has spoken/showed me) it was somehow the “devil”. It was the devil when I refused to submit to man, to be taken advantage of financially, refused to die spiritually and naturally and refused to settle for something God didn’t have in His plan for my life. I’m not here to cause an uproar in the church, just simply saying what God is saying, Trust Him. He’s God, He doesn’t have to get permission from His children to move on your behalf nor does He have to show them everything concerning your life.
I wrestled a lot in my faith because I honestly couldn’t comprehend that as I fail myself (Sometimes daily), leaders can do the same as well. God had to remind me that His chosen are still human. I had a fear of stepping out of their counsel because I believed that It was God’s will for me… all the while God was testing me to see if I would put His word to the test. Again this is no way to discredit God working in anyone, its just a reminder that He’s also working in you (if you let Him).
There are times that it gets foggy. The devil does speak to us just as he spoke to Jesus. I would be ignorant not to acknowledge that. If you are still learning how to discern the voice of God (like myself), ask Him for confirmation, pray for discernment, read your word and fast if you have to. It may not come how you want it (I learned the hard way), but He is Faithful to us. Another little trick I learned for audible guidance is to ask that spirit “Do you confess that the Lord Jesus Christ died, went to Hell and took the keys of death and Hades?” Ha! Be prepared, not all answers are of God but at least you will get an answer.
Glimpse: Whether you are just starting out your spiritual journey, take 1 Timothy 4:12 as an example to be an example. Let no one despise your youth in the spirit. Be sure that you’re seeking His voice to navigate your GPS. Not every good intention is of God.
